This is a good time to update the internet on the latest status of my life. Consider this a big, crazy diorama - a frozen tableau of the current state of me-ing. In the foreground, you see me and my wife. At our feet are two bunnies. One belongs to a couple of friends of ours and we're watching her for the weekend. Her name is Tinka and she is made from muscle and vinegar, but also out of love. See that sitting on the floor of the living room? The little folded piece of construction paper? That's the issue of Rolling Stone that arrived today. I have a couple of issues with this issue so far. At issue are:
I am glad I didn't plunk down the $100 to have them send me this stuff for the rest of my life. That would be like paying good money for herpes simplex. In the background, behind me and my lovely wife, you can see a front-load washing machine with some suds and textiles inside. It is washing the guest sheets. We had some friends over on Homecoming Weekend and it rocked verrily. We all went downtown to see Guster play for free in front of the Old Capitol building and they were superb. I got to the full "concert" experience: a neat band, drunk youngsters, and occasional pot smell from nearby concert goers who apparently are not enjoying a cigarette. Pot is a troublesome thing at concerts because sometimes you walk through someone's pot cloud and then the current song - whatever it is - sounds like Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive". Yes, I kid you. What's that sticking in through the window? That appears to be a tuba. While we were killing time at the Dublin Underground bar before the concert, the U of Iowa alumni band came in and played for beer. Did you know I know all the words to the Iowa Fight Song? This is true. Let's go Hawks. On a shelf in the corner is a ukulele. Man, that thing is fun to play with. I am looking to spend 15 to 20 bucks on an electronic device with which to tune my uke. Any suggestions? I would like to be able to try this out before I buy it. Did you know that poetry is an enjoyable thing? The key is to try reading it aloud. That's the Norton Anthology of Poetry back there on the mantle, next to the clock. Comments: Next time we meet up, remind me and I will bring my tuner for you to try out. poetry is awesome. one of my new favorites is saul williams . I read a good chunk of this one the other day at Borders.Post a Comment [MAIN PAGE] [SITE FEED] ARCHIVES: April 2006 May 2006 June 2006 July 2006 August 2006 September 2006 October 2006 November 2006 December 2006 January 2007 February 2007 March 2007 April 2007 May 2007 June 2007 July 2007 August 2007 September 2007 October 2007 November 2007 December 2007 January 2008 February 2008 March 2008 April 2008 May 2008 June 2008 July 2008 September 2008 October 2008 November 2008 December 2008 January 2009 February 2009 March 2009 August 2009 March 2010 July 2010 August 2010 January 2011 September 2011 January 2012 February 2012 |
