He's got crabs!

According to this Wired news brief, what is now known as the Crab Nebula originated in a supernova that was first observed in the Earth year 1054 C.E.
Ideas like that just blow me away. Anything that provides a hint of how vast and awesome the cosmos is, I eat it up like bread and butter. The ideal toy for me would be a little box with a crank on the side, which you turn until a little puppet scientist pops out and in a British accent shouts "The Universe!"
